ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Bay College celebrated Giving Tuesday with a holiday concert and donation drive.
The City Band performed a selection of classic Christmas songs in the Besse Theater. In place of an admission fee, attendees were asked to bring a donation for one of several local charities.
As the “community’s college,” Bay believes it is important to support organizations that are making a difference.
“Doing a free concert for everyone is just a wonderful way to give back, and we’re supporting our local band, which I believe has been playing for over 100 years now,” said Bay College Foundation Specialist Kaylee Hubert. “It’s super cool to welcome them back onto campus. We’re just doing something free for our community to help spread the joy and the season of giving.”
Nonprofits represented included the Salvation Army and the Bay College Food Pantry. The Business Professionals of America collected coats for those in need, while the EMT/Paramedic Club raised funds for local veterans and hosted an Angel Tree.
The Bay College Food Pantry accepts donations year-round and is open Monday through Friday during the hours listed at baycollege.edu. For information on how to support students with scholarships through the Bay College Foundation, click here.
