ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A convenience store and fuel station chain has expanded its reach in the U.P. to include Delta County.
Kwik Trip opened its sixth Upper Peninsula location in Escanaba on Wednesday. The Wisconsin-based chain operates more than 900 stores across the country and produces its own dairy products, baked goods, and other foods.
The Escanaba store opened at 5 a.m. and drew large crowds throughout the day. In the afternoon, local staff and corporate leadership joined the Delta County Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting.
“As someone who grew up and lived for most of their life in Escanaba, I am extremely proud to bring our company, fresh products, but most of all our culture to my hometown,” said Kwik Trip District Leader Mark Stoykovich.
“This store brings a great addition to our waterfront community, bringing jobs, options, and the kind of friendly service that Kwik Trip is really known for,” Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Jesse Huff said.
Kwik Trip presented two thousand-dollar checks to the Escanaba Public Safety Department and the Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department. Public Safety will put the money toward its kanine program, and the fire department will use it to update its jaws of life equipment.
The Escanaba Kwik Trip is located at 501 North Lincoln Road.
