MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette County McDonald’s locations showed support for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients across the area on Monday.
From 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McDonald’s locations in Harvey, Marquette, and Ishpeming, parents and their children each could receive a free McChicken Meal Deal upon presenting their SNAP card.
Following over a week of pauses and lapses in SNAP benefits, store owners say the offer was well met across the county, serving 275 of the free meals by 2:45 p.m.
“We’ve had a full lobby pretty much the whole day,” said Tom Wilson, supervisor of the Wilson Family McDonald’s locations. “It’s just really great to give back and help people out as they’re experiencing tough times right now.”
The same McDonald’s locations will also be serving free meals to veterans and active duty service-members tomorrow for veterans day.
