IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – No injuries were reported in a residential fire on Sunday.
At 6:07 p.m., the Iron Mountain Fire Department was dispatched to 505 Vulcan Street for a report of visible smoke and activated smoke detectors. Crews arrived in under three minutes of dispatch to find moderate smoke filling the bottom apartment.
In a coordinated effort, Iron Mountain firefighters pulled hose lines and established a water supply. Crews searched all units, ensuring occupants were out of the building. The fire was located in the attic and extinguished. Overhaul was completed to ensure the fire did not spread to any of the other apartment units.
No civilians or emergency personnel were injured during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials say it does not appear to be suspicious.
Iron Mountain Fire initially responded with an engine and four firefighters. Afterward, a recall of off-duty personnel, an additional six firefighters, an engine, aerial, a brush truck, and a utility pickup arrived at the scene. Assisting agencies included the Iron Mountain Police Department, the Iron Mountain Department of Public Works, DTE, and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department.
