MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A measles case was reported on Thursday, May 29 by the Marquette County Health Department.
Exposure sites in Marquette currently being monitored are:
- Moonspun Wool from May 19 to May 21, between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The Marquette Food Co-op on May 20, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
- Midas Auto on May 21, between 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Anyone who visited these locations at any of these times should contact the Marquette County Health Department at 906-475-9977 and monitor any possible symptoms for 21 days.
These symptoms may include:
- High fever (may spike over 104°F)
- Cough
- Runny nose
- Red, Watery eyes (Conjunctivitis)
- Tiny white spots on the inner cheeks, gums, and roof of the mouth (Koplik Spots)
- A rash that is red, raised, blotchy, typically starting on the face, spreading to trunk arms and legs, three days after symptoms begin.
This was reportedly the first measles case in Marquette County over the last 30 years. The MCHD is working alongside the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) to investigate this situation and prevent further spread of the disease.
