NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ)—The City of Negaunee started flushing its water system on May 27th.
The hydrant flushing will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. over the next three weeks. Water services should not be interrupted, and no boil advisories are required.
When flushing occurs in a neighborhood, the accumulated water sediment will be stirred up, and the majority of the sediment will be flushed out of the system. However, due to limitations, not all sediment may cause discoloration in the water. If discolored water is dispensed, the Department of Public Works recommends giving the system a few hours and running cold water from the faucet for a couple of minutes.
The Cty of Negaunee recommends that water customers avoid washing laundry during the hydrant flushing in their neighborhood. Contact the Department of Public Works at (906) 475 – 9991 with any questions or concerns.
