MARINETTE COUNTY, Wisc. (WZMQ) – Multiple Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin residents have been arrested in connection with drug trafficking in Marinette County, Wisconsin.
According to a press release from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, the Northeast Tri-County Drug Enforcement Group (NETCDEG) opened an investigation, led by the Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette Police Department, into a local methamphetamine drug trafficking organization. Over months of intense investigation, officials identified several individuals involved in the sale and distribution of methamphetamine.
Police arrested 48-year-old Gabriel J. Kurek of Peshtigo, 45-year-old Bruce A. Cassady of Lena, 49-year-old Jonathan L. Block of Pound, 33-year-old John R. Hager of Grover, 33-year-old Crystal S. Barthel of Antigo, 23-year-old Maya E. Lindsay of Marinette, 23-year-old Hunter L. Shehow of Peshtigo, 27-year-old Nickolas J. Wood of Marinette, 47-year-old Scott M. Klatt of Menominee, and 24-year-old Maggie M. Throm of Menominee.
All individuals were charged by the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office. They each face one count of conspiracy to commit delivery of methamphetamine greater than 50 grams, which is a Class C felony punishable by up to 40 years in prison and/or fines of up to $100,000.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the City of Marinette Police Department, the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan’s Menominee County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan’s Dickinson County KIND Unit, the City of Antigo Police Department, the City of Peshtigo Police Department, the Marathon County Drug Unit, and the Lake Winnebago Area MEG Unit.
