MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Thursday the Marquette Playground for All Committee and the NMU Constructors Club unveiled their new accessible Free Little Library at the Mattson Lower Harbor Park after working on it since October of last year.
The Library is free for all to use and close to the ground for easy wheelchair or disability access. Barb Coleman the treasurer for the Playground for All Committee said the library is a great addition to the playground and the community.
“The books are right here where the kids are playing,” said Coleman. “There’s a seating area for the caregivers, the kids take a break, they want to look at a book, there’s books here for anybody because the whole idea is people bring books and take books, so they’re free books.”
The free library will be available year-round and can be found near the public bathrooms next to the new Kids Cove playground.
