GOGEBIC COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marenisco man has been arraigned on multiple charges following a fatal rollover crash.
On March 26, 57-year-old Brian Austin Berquist of Marenisco was driving a vehicle with a front and rear passenger inside. While traveling southbound on M-64, Berquist lost control of the vehicle and the car rolled over. The 45-year-old female front passenger was ejected and died on scene. The 33-year-old male passenger and Berquist were treated for minor injuries.
Berquist was arraigned Friday, March 28th, in the 98th District Court on two counts of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) Causing Death and one count of manslaughter. The court set Berquist’s bond at $50,000 cash. A probable cause conference and preliminary exam have been scheduled.
At this time, the Michigan State Police (MSP) is not releasing the names of the passengers out of respect for their privacy and consideration for their families. The investigation is still ongoing.
