ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – UPDATE: Just after 12:30 a.m., Escanaba Public Safety announced that the road has been reopened.
Original Story:
A portion of a road in Delta County is closed to traffic due to downed power lines.
On March 30, Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched to the area of US 2-41 and K.5 Road for multiple powerlines that had fallen down across the highway. US 2-41 has been closed from North 30th Street to 13.75 Road until the area is safe and clear of powerlines.
Around 7:35 p.m., the Delta County Sheriff’s Office made a Facebook post stating that the road would likely remain closed for the next eight hours. Officials say the only approved detour is to go through Danforth and reconnect with US 2-41 at I Road in Hyde.
Public Safety asks drivers to avoid the area and take alternate routes when traveling east into Escanaba or west out of Escanaba.
WZMQ 19 will update this post once officials provide an update on the closure.
