CALUMET TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Calumet man was arrested after fatally hitting a woman with his car.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, Houghton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a car vs. pedestrian crash on Lake Linden Avenue near Hecla Street in Calumet Township. 48-year-old Holly Dollar of Laurium had been walking on Lake Linden Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle, which was being driven by 24-year-old Jorden Racine-Klarich of Calumet.
Dollar was transported by Mercy Ambulance to UP Health System – Portage, where she was briefly treated before being transported to UP Health System – Marquette. She died after arriving at the Marquette facility.
After the initial investigation, Racine-Klarich was taken into custody on suspicion of operating while intoxicated and causing serious injury. Criminal charges are pending until further investigation and lab results are completed.
