Major winter storm will ride through the central Great Lakes Wednesday. The U.P. is in a good spot to receive heavy snow amounts based on the track of the storm. Winter Storm Warning begins at 7pm tonight, though the heaviest of the snows will kick in after midnight and go through early afternoon before gradually tapering off. Gusty winds over 45 mph will cause plenty of blowing and drifting. Temperatures will fall through the 20s, causing icy roads to develop. Storm totals of a foot to a foot and a half expected, and Marquette may be one of the areas receiving the greatest snow amounts. Travel Wednesday is not recommended unless necessary.
