HOUGHTON, Mich, (WZMQ) – Public Safety officials at an Upper Peninsula university are asking the public for help in locating a missing graduate student.

According to Michigan Technological University’s Department of Public Safety and Police Services, 36-year-old Matthew Sisson was reported missing on February 14. Sisson’s family was last in contact with him the morning of February 11, when they say he mentioned that he would be going to Walmart. His family has not heard from him since.

Despite extensive collaborative searches by Michigan Tech Public Safety and local law enforcement, Sisson’s whereabouts remain unknown. Officials are especially concerned for his safety and well-being due to known mental health challenges.

Sisson is described as a white male, 5’8″, weighing 215 pounds, with long black hair and brown eyes. He has a full-face beard and wears glasses. It is unknown what he was last wearing.

Anyone with information regarding Sisson’s whereabouts is urged to contact Michigan Tech Public Safety at (906) 487-2215. Tips can be submitted anonymously at www.mtu.edu/tips/. Officials say no matter how small, every piece of information could help bring Sisson home safely.
