NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The city of Negaunee is adding to their fleet of snow removal equipment this year with a massive new snow blower attachment.
It will be primarily used for clearing heavier loads of snow such as large snowbanks and along curb lines, making way for storm drains nearing the spring thaw. The $200,000 investment has been funded through an equipment millage passed over 5 years ago. “It should be in circulation within a couple of weeks after our staff gets some training on the new equipment,” said Nate Heffron, Negaunee’s city manager. “This is something we have been waiting for, and have needed for quite some time.”
Negaunee plow crews cover roughly 52 miles of roads throughout the area, with some of their equipment dating back to the late 70s.
