DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – Three people face drug charges after three separate incidents in Delta County over the weekend.
On Jan. 3 around 2 a.m., Michigan State Police Gladstone Post troopers made a traffic stop for multiple violations on Stephenson Ave. near 6th Ave North in Escanaba. A subsequent investigation turned up suspected methamphetamine. The driver, 44-year-old Jennifer Verbrigghe of Escanaba, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine and lodged in the Delta County Jail. She was arraigned in Delta County District Court, where her bond was set at $500. She’s due back in court Jan. 23.
On Jan. 4 around 2:26 a.m., troopers checked on a woman, identified as 42-year-old Kristyn Hansen from Chesapeake, Virginia, who was walking in the cold weather along US-2 near k-5 Rd in Wells Township. Hansen appeared to be intoxicated. A subsequent investigation resulted in the discovery of suspected cocaine. Hansen was arrested for felony possession of cocaine and lodged in the Delta County Jail. She was arraigned in the Delta County District Court, where her bond was set at $750. She’s due back in court Jan. 23.
On Jan. 5 around 1:40 a.m., troopers made a traffic stop on South 5th St. near 2nd Ave South in Escanaba for a traffic violation. A subsequent investigation resulted in the discovery of suspected methamphetamine. Troopers arrested the passenger, 37-year-old David Wencl from Powers, for felony possession of methamphetamine and lodged him in the Delta County Jail. Wencl was arraigned in Delta County District Court, where his bond was set at $1,000. He’s due back in court Jan. 23.
