ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Ishpeming man faces an assault charge after police say he hit another man in the head with a kitchen utensil.
On Dec. 31, 2024, the Ishpeming Police Department was called to 551 Jasper St. around 2:40 a.m. for a reported assault. A 56-year-old Ishpeming man, whose name has not been released, was struck in the head with a meat tenderizer.
An investigation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Zachary Adam Lewis for Assault with Intent to Murder, a felony punishable by up to life in prison. Lewis was treated by medical staff for a self-inflicted injury before being lodged at the Marquette County Jail.
Lewis was arraigned Jan. 2. His bond was set at $500,000. He is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on Jan. 16 and a preliminary exam hearing on Jan. 23.
