LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Representative-elect Karl Bohnak was sworn into the Michigan House of Representatives Wednesday morning. The first Republican to hold the seat in 70 years, Bohnak will take over the seat from Representative Jenn Hill in January.
Bohnak said he’s already gone through orientation in the House and is excited to get started.
“I’m excited. I was at a breakfast earlier this morning with our Senator Mcbroom and Dave Preston of the 108th and Greg Markin and the 110th, and I’m getting ready to get to work to help push our agenda ahead for the Upper Peninsula.” Bohhnak said. “So far it’s been great, I have a lot of help. I know I’ll need a lot of help because there’s a learning curve here and there’s a lot of things I need to know, and so far things have been great.”
He will join republican representatives Dave Prestin and Greg Markkanen, who were both re-elected in November. Along with State Senator Ed McBroom, the Upper Peninsula will have entirely Republican representation in Lansing.
