MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Another Harris campaign surrogate is making a stop in the Upper Peninsula this week. Gwen Walz, the wife of the vice presidential candidate and current Minnesota governor Tim Walz, will be in Marquette on Friday, Oct. 25 and in Escanaba on Saturday, Oct. 26.
According to a release from the Harris for Michigan campaign, Mrs. Walz will meet with volunteers to encourage door-knocking and talking with voters “about the stakes of this election for Michiganders” as early voting gets underway this weekend.
“At the events, Mrs. Walz will highlight the contrast between Vice President Harris and Governor Walz’s agenda to protect Michiganders’ freedoms – from women’s health care to economic opportunity, versus Donald Trump and JD Vance’s Project 2025 agenda that will ban abortion nationwide and give Trump unprecedented, unchecked power to enact his extreme and dangerous agenda,” said the Harris for Michigan campaign in a release.
Mrs. Walz will rally in Marquette with State Rep. Jenn Hill (D) and will rally with local Team Harris-Walz volunteers in Escanaba.
WZMQ will have a reporter at Mrs. Walz’ rally in Marquette on Friday.
Mrs. Walz is the latest in a string of so-called “surrogates” for the Harris campaign to visit the Upper Peninsula, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, Jill Biden, Chasten Buttigieg, and Michigan leaders like Gov. Whitmer, Lt. Gov. Gilchrist, and Michigan House Speaker Rep. Joe Tate.
