New Polling Shows Trump Taking Lead in Some Battleground States

WASHINGTON, D.C. – New polling from Quinnipiac University shows it’s going to be an even closer race in some battleground states. The new numbers show former President Donald Trump has made some strides in battleground states over Vice President Kamala Harris. It’s a big chance since their last poll they released in September.

In places like Pennsylvania, Harris still has the lead over Trump. Compared to the last poll, her lead has shrunk. Both candidates have campaigned a lot in that state and have visited Northwest PA and are pouring in record-high amounts of money into advertisements across the state. Political scientists believe whoever wins Pennsylvania is likely to win the White House. The new polls show voters in Pennsylvania believe Harris would do a better job preserving democracy in the US and on abortion issues. Voters there believe Trump would do a better job handling the economy and immigration.

The polls have shifted to Trump’s favor in battleground Michigan. Polls are now showing 50 percent of likely voters support the former President and only 47 percent support Harris. The polling in September showed Harris had the lead in Michigan over Trump. Voters in Michigan now give Trump the edge when they were asked who would do a better job handling issues like the economy, immigration and preserving democracy. Voters there believe Harris would do a better job on abortion issues.

As for the critical US Senate race for Pennsylvania, incumbent Senator Bob Casey still leads over Republican challenger Dave McCormick. The polls show the percentage favoring Casey hasn’t changed since September. However, it does show independents are split evenly for McCormick and Casey. In this race, both candidates will try to win over as much support from those independents as possible.

The new polling shows Trump also takes the lead in the battleground state of Wisconsin. It’s a change in preference since the last poll from Quinnipiac University.

As for the critical Michigan US Senate race, it shows voters support Republican Congressman Mike Rogers and Democratic Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin evenly at 48 percent. In September, Slotkin had a five point lead over Rogers. The new polling shows independents are split evenly supporting Slotkin and Rogers. In this race, both candidates will try to win over as much support from those independents as possible.
