UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. – Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital & Clinics proudly welcomes Family Medicine Physician Kristi Wegener, MD to its excellent team of medical providers. Dr. Wegener specializes in comprehensive and preventative care for the whole family. She has special interests in preventative, outpatient, integrative and lifestyle medicine. She is now accepting patients at Aspirus Laurium Clinic in Laurium.

Dr. Wegener is originally from Bay City, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience with a minor in Gender and Health from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., and a Doctorate from Michigan State University – College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Mich. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at UP Health System – Marquette where she served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Wegener’s motivation to pursue a career in medicine stemmed from her desire to contribute positively to the health and well-being of Michigan residents.

“Listening attentively to my patients and devising innovative solutions to enhance their quality of life brings me genuine joy,” said Dr. Wegener.

Dr. Wegener completed training in Integrative Medicine, a discipline that prioritizes a holistic approach to healthcare. This approach considers not only the patient’s medical condition but also all factors affecting their health, wellness, and disease. By integrating both conventional and alternative methods in treatment plans, Dr. Wegener strives to provide comprehensive care tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

Dr. Wegner is excited to be at Aspirus, caring for patients and helping to make a positive difference in the community.
