ST. IGNACE, Mich. – Starting Tuesday, Oct. 1, traffic will be reconfigured at the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) rebuilding project on the US-2 bridge over I-75 in St. Ignace.
Motorists should expect one lane open in each direction of the bridge. The outside southbound and northbound lanes of I-75 will be closed, maintaining one lane of traffic in each direction. The eastbound US-2 ramp to northbound I-75 will be closed and detoured via the westbound US-2 ramp to northbound I-75.
This configuration is expected to be in place for about two weeks.
This ongoing work is part of the second year of a two -year, $4.5 million project to repair the US-2 bridge over I-75 in the city of St. Ignace. This project includes expansion joint replacement, pier cap and bearing replacement, and painting. Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 54 jobs.
Work started in spring 2023 and is expected to be completed in October. For up-to-date traffic information on this project and others throughout the state, go to www.Michigan.gov/Drive.
