IRONWOOD, Mich. – The Upper Peninsula Construction Council is holding a hiring event and career fair Sept. 24 and 25 in Ironwood.
The hiring event will take place on Sept. 24 from 3 – 6 p.m CST at Gogebic Community College, located at E4946 Jackson Rd, Ironwood. It’s open to those 18 or older with a valid driver’s license and high school diploma or GED. Those interested should bring a resume or portfolio and will have the opportunity to meet with multiple building trades contractors and their respective unions.
The career fair, open to high school juniors and seniors, will be held Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST, also at Gogebic Community College. Students will have the opportunity to speak with UPCC and building trades officials, as well as operate simulators and hand tools.
“Demand is high and only increasing for construction workers, so if you’re thinking about a career in construction, you won’t want to miss these events,” said UPCC Executive Director Mike Smith. “Now is the time to start a lucrative career with great wages, family healthcare and a pension.”
