MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette’s city board passed its 2025 city budget proposal on Monday night. The proposal stated a budget of $24.3 million with $20.1 million in unrestricted funds.
Marquette property tax provides the highest revenue for the city, even though only 50% of the city properties can be taxed. That is why the commission members were glad to hear about the balanced budget for 2025, which is always the goal of the administration and department heads when creating next year’s budget.
“The staff, the department heads, and the administration work very hard to develop this budget and we are working to secure our financial future,” said Sally Davis, Mayor of Marquette.
This budget will go into play on October 1st, until September 30, 2025. The 2025 budget proposal can be found on the city of Marquette’s website, more information can be found on Marquette’s Financial & Accounting page.
