MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) -With the November election fast approaching, election integrity is more important than ever.
A group of former and current elected officials, along with two non-partisan groups, hosted a town hall meeting today in Marquette Township. The topic was election integrity and who can and can’t vote. The panel took questions from the audience, and did their best to dispel mis-information, rumors, and other falsehoods surrounding elections. Their goal is to encourage conversations about proper voting, and election fraud.
“The Northern Michigan Community Conversation Tour.” is traveling across Northern Michigan, with stops in Escanaba as well as Marquette. Statewide organizations “Keep our Republic” and “Michiganders for Civic Resilience” fielded questions from members of the public, but also from Upper Peninsula county and city clerks. Ari Mittleman, the Executive Director of “Keep our Republic” says this coming election has global implications.
“The whole world is watching. Those that love our country, those who scratch their heads about our country. Those are the hate our country are watching Michigan, and watching this election, and we can send a strong signal that a strong, robust, democratic process in this constitutional democracy, if we have record turnout,” said Mittleman.
