ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Wednesday, a former tradition made its return to the U.P. State Fair for the first time in nine years.
As part of Senior Citizens Day, the Menominee Delta Schoolcraft Community Action Agency (MDSCAA) hosted a Wellness Fair for adults ages 60 and older. The theme of the event was “putting the pieces together for a healthier you.”
Attendees enjoyed a congregate meal and received resources from vendors like OSF HealthCare, UP Health System Home Care & Hospice, the Delta County Cancer Alliance, and AARP. Organizers say the Wellness Fair was an opportunity for MDSCAA to give back to the community and provide important information for seniors.
“It just gets our name, Community Action, out there and all the different services we have, along with all the other vendors,” said Lydia LaPalm, administrator of the Escanaba Senior Center. “Socialization is so important in the older adult communities. It’s a good thing for everybody in general because people come from the whole U.P. and even Wisconsin to come to the fair.”
Attendees also had the chance to earn fun and motivating prizes by visiting each vendor at the Wellness Fair.
