MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Friday, the annual Ore to Shore bike race hosted the packet pick-up and spaghetti dinner prepared by the Negaunee Lions Club at the Lakeview Area. The Lions Club has been holding this event for Ore to Shore for 15 years as a service to the community and riders.
The Ore to Shore committee needed someone to have a spaghetti dinner and the Lions Club is always willing to do a fundraiser. Negaunee’s Lions Club services around 500 to 600 riders and their families. they start preparing at noon making 130 pounds of pasta and 75 gallons of pasta sauce.
“Seeing happy people and people love the spaghetti we make, it’s really good, we make cookies that people like too, people enjoy the Ore to Shore and this is part of it,” said George Sedlacea, Negaunee Lion Club member.
The Ore to Shore bike race is taking place tomorrow with races scattered throughout the day, first starting at 8 a.m. For more information go to the Ore to Shore website.
