MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Great Lakes Recovery Center held its annual Run for Recovery fundraiser on Wednesday. This is the 17th year the Run for Recovery has been put on, and this year’s proceeds are going to Great Lakes Recovery Center’s Compassionate Care Fund.
This event offers 3 divisions to participate in, walking, 5K run, and 10K run all starting at Lake View Arena. This event is held not only in Marquette but in Sault Ste. Marie, and L’Anse, MI as well.
The Run for Recovery is a chance to unite the community and raise awareness for addiction and behavioral health issues across the Upper Peninsula. Organizers share seeing families come year after year shows the support within the community.
“Seeing people come together sharing the experience, and when you have multiple families coming out, a couple different generations within a family all out there to support goodwill, healing, recovery, and community,” Greg Toutant, Great Lakes Recovery CEO.
This is also the Great Lakes Recovery Center’s 40th year, this non-profit hopes to continue supporting those who live in the Upper Peninsula in any way the organization can.
