HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – 60-year-old Evan Dixon is charged with premeditated murder and felony weapons firearm for shooting 53-year-old Theron Duncan in the Douglass House Saloon in Houghton last November.
At today’s hearing the judge and attorneys addressed the status of the case and potential plea negotiations, which the attorneys say is ongoing.
“I talked to my client yesterday,” said Defense Attorney Karl Numinen. “He’s authorized me to engage with the plea negotiations with prosecutor Helmer via email and he was very responsive.”
The judge also set the date of a waiver hearing for August 13 and a preliminary hearing for August 16.
