NEGAUNEE, Mich (WZMQ) – Negaunee’s kids came out to ride their decked out bikes in the Negaunee Elks kids bike parade. The parade is held alongside Pioneer Days, a week long event to celebrate all the city, its residents and all things Negaunee.
The kids bikes were decked out in red, white and blue . Many came beforehand to spend time decorating their bikes with streamers, ribbons and other fun arts and crafts.
“In the last couple of years, Love and Bicycles has come down with decorations to help kids decorate their bikes and be apart of this as well.” remarked Sara Munson, Negaunee Elks Lodge Youth Committee Chair.
the kids started on Rail St. and ended the parade at the Negaunee Ice Arena where they had kids day.
“Kids is one of our biggest focuses and so we take Pioneers Days and put on this event which is low-cost to the families and allows them to have a family event with their kids and the kids get to come out and have fun.” said Jamie Crabb, head of the Kids Day event.
There were games, raffles, food and drinks for the family to enjoy, even local organizations came out to support like the Marquette Food Co-op and the Lions Club gave out free vision test to the kids.
All the proceeds from the raffle will be funneled back into the budget for the Elks Lodge to continue holding Kids Day.
