MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Cedar Tree Institute for Lake Awareness Month released its new book, “The Gift Of Water”, on Monday at the Peter White Public Library. This book is a collection of 45 stories from writers across the Upper Peninsula and their experiences with the Great Lakes.
The Cedar Tree Institute is a non-profit organization that provides serves and initiates projects for the environment, mental health, and faith communities. “The Gift Of Water,” is to promote and help fund upcoming projects being; supporting native communities, supporting two wells in other countries, cleaning the drinking water, and planting 1,000 cedar trees to improve the ecosystem.
“We’re all working together to help celebrate but also protect and educate people about the challenges to both preserve and protect drinking water here,” said John Magnuson, Cedar Trees Institute director.
At the release event, there were 6 authors of the book there to read their stories and live music from Michael Waite.
