MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Monday, the Marquette Junior Yacht Club is holding its sailing lesson series from now to August at the Marquette Marina. These lessons are $200 for 5 classes for kids 8 to 18 to learn the fundamentals of sailing.
This nonprofit organization is in its 15th year educating the youth, each year the program has grown till this year 80 students registered, organizer shared. This course strives to make a lesson plan the youth can build on per lesson and level.
“Maybe they’re just gonna be wanting to do the hands-on stuff and we could show them videos and demonstrate for them but I really like that everybody that comes through our program has a unique way of learning, and it’s fun,” said Rah Torst, Marquette’s Junior Yacht Club director.
