Iron Mountain, Mich (WZMQ) – In the aftermath of last month’s tragic apartment fire on H Street, The Maxx Entertainment Center is stepping up to support the displaced victims. This Saturday, they’ll host a benefit aimed at providing much-needed relief and assistance to those affected by the fatal fire.
Organizers at The Maxx have gathered an array of raffle items, including a donated disc golf cage and a set of discs, and nearly $500 worth of reptile-themed birthday parties from Glaser’s Reptarium. The event will kick off at noon Central Time, with live music starting at 3 PM. The organizers also expect the number of raffle items to double before Saturday.
During the Veterans Tribute Ride over Memorial Weekend, a collection bucket for the fire victims raised $500 in cash, along with numerous gift cards and surprise envelopes. “Right now, there’s like $500 cash in there. There are a bunch of gift cards. And some anonymous donor brought in a bunch of manilla envelopes that are sealed and each one of them has something for one of the families. We were told not to give them to them until the event. So there’s going to be a big surprise,” the venue owner, Dave Fraser, shared.
The benefit promises an exciting lineup of raffle items, including coolers, gift baskets, and a full basket and bag of discs from the Iron Mountain Frisbee Golf Association worth hundreds of dollars. Glasers Reptarium has donated a total of 3 birthday party packages known for their engaging snake and lizard shows, valued at nearly $500 altogether. Additionally, The Maxx will raffle off a birthday party.
In a previous fire benefit held earlier this year, The Maxx raised around $6,000, demonstrating the community’s generosity and commitment. “We tried to get this together within a week after the fire but of course, you know it was just too quick. We couldn’t get enough things for them. We’ve already helped a bunch of people get mattresses and box springs. Slumberland donated a bunch of stuff, and the community too,” Fraser added.
For those interested in contributing, donations of raffle items or financial contributions can be brought to The Maxx Entertainment Center on Aragon Street in Iron Mountain any day of the week between 10 AM and 6 PM. Financial contributions can also be made directly to the displaced fire victims at Incredible Bank.
This Saturday’s benefit is not just about raising funds, but also about showing solidarity and support for neighbors in need. Join the community at The Maxx Entertainment Center and be a part of making a meaningful difference.
