MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – The UP Children’s Museum held its annual “Decorate the Downtown With Love” fundraiser for art week.
Artists of all kind turned the Marquette Commons into one giant art exhibit, one square at a time, with artwork of everything from rainbows to otters.
“It’s just a little mish-mash of everything,” said Taylor Rowland, a participating NMU student. “It’s awesome. It’s a good way to get out in the community and meet new people show the beauty of Marquette. We’re painting the sidewalk for everybody to see. It’s just a really cool opportunity for everybody.”
Jessica Hanley, the museum’s executive director said the fundraiser is a great way for kids to be a part of art week.
“The parents want their kids to be involved in art week,” said Hanley. “The kids find this to be a very fun event. There’s no rules, there’s no restrictions, they just can paint whatever they want.”
If you want to check out the art for yourself it’ll be on the sidewalk around the Marquette Commons until it rains, then it’ll be washed away till next year.
