MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – UPDATE 7/9/24: According to court records, Hardwicke elected to “stand mute” on his charges on July 5, waiving his arraignment in Marquette County Circuit Court. The court entered a “not guilty” plea. Hardwicke’s next court appearance has not been scheduled.

The Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office and Michigan State Police are looking for other potential victims of a former Ishpeming Police Department officer accused of sexually assaulting and giving alcohol to a minor.
Travis Hardwicke appeared in Marquette County District Court on June 12 for a preliminary examination on charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct – 3rd Degree and Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor. After the hearing, the prosecutor’s office asked Judge Karl Weber to amend the charge to CSC – 1st Degree based on the victim’s testimony. Hardwicke was bound to circuit court on a CSC – 1st Degree charge, which is punishable by life in prison.
According to court records, Hardwicke is accused of assaulting and providing alcohol to a minor on July 29, 2023. Court records show he was arrested April 30, 2024, just one day after the complaint was filed. Hardwicke posted a $25,500 cash bond on May 7 from district court. Hardwicke posted his circuit court cash bond of $25,500 on June 13.
Upon further investigation, troopers have spoken with multiple people who say they have received or were offered alcohol by 28-year-old Hardwicke.

Hardwicke is scheduled for arraignment in circuit court on July 12 at 10:30 a.m.
