MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The U.P. American Culinary Federation hosted its 3rd annual BBQ showcase at Barrel and Beam. There were 6 chefs, 3 were members of the ACF, and others were local cooks.
Tickets cost $35 which included 6 different types of BBQ meals. There was everything from Vietnamese Spring Rolls, smoked corn elote, Cubanos, and more. Organizers shared that the purpose of starting this event was to allow the chefs to make some BBQ, socialize and interact with the customers, and have a good time.
“Being the fact that most of us are chefs and our heads down and we’re in the kitchen and we don’t really get to see the customers reaction or the interactions as much as we like to this is a great way for us to interact with the customers and to showcase who we are”, Derek Estes, U.P. ACF chapter president.
Upcoming events for the U.P. ACF include the Blueberry Festival where they will have their blueberry bratwursts. They also have a culinary showdown at the Marquette County Fair. For more information go to the U.P. ACF homepage.
