ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Ishpeming Carnegie Public library kicked off it’s annual Summer Reading program June 11 and children of all ages are welcomed to sign up to participate, and everyone who joins receives a free book to start off their reading goals.
The library is also encouraging adults to sign up for the Adult Summer Reading program as well.
Last summer, the library had about 350 people participate and this year they are hoping to match or surpass that number with this year’s reading program.
“Summer reading is so amazing to keep the kids reading while their out of school,” says Heather Sanders, librarian for Ishpeming Carnegie library. “A lot of people are already reading and it’s a fun incentive to win some prizes while your reading.”
Not only is the library promoting the kids to read, but they want any interested adults to join in as well.
Adults are entered into a raffle for various prizes from local businesses.
