EAST LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A German drivetrain testing facility celebrated the grand opening of its first North American office in Michigan today. Atesteo’s $27.8 million headquarters in East Lansing will serve as a base for the company’s existing and new clients in the state, to test transmissions for electric motors, hybrid drive systems, and classic combustion engines.
Atesteo was launched in Aachen, Germany in 1986, testing powertrains and transmissions. Since then, ATESTEO has become the leading drivetrain testing specialist for car manufacturers and automotive suppliers around the world with more than 35 years of experience in testing, over 200 drivetrain test benches, and more than 800 employees.
The company began serving the e-mobility industry in 2008 and provides testing services for hybrid and fully electrified auto drivetrains and components. ATESTEO North America was established in 2022 to better serve existing and future customers in the U.S.
Governor Whitmer spoke at the ribbon cutting this morning, welcoming the company to the state and celebrating the 45 new automotive jobs created by the launch.
“As transmissions get built just a short drive away, they can easily be brought here to East Lansing where at as stale can test them to ensure high-quality production continues.” Whitmer said.
Whitmer said it’s another step towards building Michigan’s advanced manufacturing industry.
