ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A two-day event for car enthusiasts kicked off Friday evening in Escanaba.
The Krusin’ Klassics Fun Run parade took over Ludington Street at 7 p.m. Many cars drove through town and into Gladstone before heading to the U.P. State Fairgrounds for live music and dancing, bucket raffles, a silent auction, and a costume contest.
Roughly 600 cars drive in the Krusin’ Klassics Fun Run parade each year, with everything from muscle cars and classic hot rods to pickup trucks and newer models.
“It’s the camaraderie,” said Krusin’ Klassics Car Club President Mark Caswell. “People like looking at cars, people like talking about cars, they like showing off their cars. Nothing wrong with that, either. Then, of course, the community ultimately benefits from everything that we take in at this show. We give a lot back to the community.”
The fun continues on Saturday, June 1, at the U.P. State Fairgrounds. Gates open at 8 a.m. for a car show and swap meet, vendors, food trucks, a petting zoo, and other activities throughout the day. The Krusin’ Klassics Car Club will also draw the winner of a 1981 Corvette at 4:30 p.m.
