MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – Tonight the Zonta Club of Marquette County held its annual ‘Honor a Woman’ event at Barrel and Beam.
Special guest speaker Claire Kitchin Dahl made an appearance as historical icon ‘Rosie the Riveter’ to talk about women’s role throughout world war two and beyond, and help honor the ten nominees; Dr. Jennifer Aschenbrener, Lucci Contois, Jodi Formolo, Carol Hill, Carol, Johnson, and Mary McKinney.
Zonta Club of Marquette President Alex Eisenberger said this year is the biggest turnout yet.
“We’re almost busting at the seams with the count for the venue which is really exciting and really great to see,” said Eisenberger, “especially this week, there’s a million different things going on in Marquette. I just am kind of shocked by the support and just excited to have everybody here.”
With this year’s turnout, Eisenberger said the club plans to continue having special guest speakers in the future, so ‘Rosie’ may just be the beginning.
