MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – Lake Superior Community Partnership began a new housing a development series today at NMU.
The series will bring in organizations from other parts of Michigan and the Midwest, along with local developers, to help develop strategies for meeting the housing needs in the UP.
LSCP CEO Christopher Germain said today’s goal was simply to remove obstacles for developers who want to start new projects, or revive old ones.
“So the impact is simply to get more units built here in Marquette County,” said Germain. “That should slow the price increases of housing and create more opportunities for people who want to stay here to stay here, and those who want to be here to come here.”
Germain also said LSCP plans to have several more sessions throughout the year, but the dates are yet to be determined.
