Rebranded and ready to kick off the farmer’s market season, check out this event on What’s UP with Megan:
Houghton is gearing up for Locavore Festival, previously known as the From the Ground Festival, scheduled for this Saturday! This vibrant event marks the beginning of the farmer’s market season and will be held on the picturesque pier from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The term “locavore” describes a person who celebrates locally grown food, art, and music, perfectly encapsulating the spirit of this festival.
Last year, the From the Ground Farmer’s Market Collective managed the logistics and vendor organization. This year, the City of Houghton has taken the reins, with support from Visit Keweenaw and the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce. But, the From the Ground Collective remains a key partner, providing crucial vendor contacts to ensure a seamless transition.
One of the festival’s highlights this year will be the Keweenaw Boat Tours, offering scenic tours of the canal. These tours are popular and must be booked in advance. Interested attendees can contact Captain Jason Swain at keweenawboattours@gmail.com or 906-281-1556 for reservations.
For more information, visit the City of Houghton’s website or contact the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce.
