MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – Marquette-Alger RESA (MARESA) hosted the UP’s first ever Unified Sports Expo today at Northern Michigan University for special and general education students all over the UP.
The Students had a day of volleyball, bocce ball, dance, and cornhole.
Dani Belanger, a student from Ishpeming High School, said the expo helps kids of all abilities share experiences that they may not otherwise have.
“It’s very important for all kids to have a fair shot at everything that they do,” said Belanger, “and having sports days like this really brings the whole group together, and brings them closer, and makes us kind of realize that no matter what we do we’re all good at something, you know.”
The students at today’s expo are also getting ready for Michigan Unified Sports Summer Games at Central Michigan University.
