MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ)- The community favorite Marquette Maritime Museum is open for the season. They opened Tuesday, May 14th and their season goes to October 9th. This museum captures the heritage of the area’s water like shipwrecks, coast guard boats, canoes, etc.
During the off-season, the Marquette Maritime Museum had their roof redone and they were able to get the construction done a month before they opened. As well as the city of Marquette restored the second level of the lighthouse which adds a new element to the lighthouse tours that are so popular. Marquette Maritime Museum staff is very excited for everyone to see the updates.
“Our construction got completed about a month ago so we’ve been scrambling to get everything ready, but ya we’re open, we’ve got a brand new roof still looking to get some donations to help pay for the roof, but we are open and doing tours”, Hillary Billman, Director of Marquette Maritime Museum.
This season they are offering multiple different tours. They have sunrise tours for the early birds, twice a month they have evening tours, and for the daredevils, they have paranormal tours. They do advise for Lighthouse tour tickets to call their office to double-check they are not sold out before coming. The Marquette Maritime Museum has multiple fundraisers planned for the future as well.
