ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On May 7, three Delta County Commissioners faced a recall election, each losing their seat to a challenger. The swearing-in of their challengers has been postponed after the Board of Canvassers failed to certify the election results.
According to an email sent to the winning candidates, Delta County Clerk Nancy Przewrocki said Canvassers Bonnie Hakkola and LeeAnne Oman voted against certifying the results. However, they agreed to hold “one more meeting” on Monday, May 20, for a final vote.
If the election results are certified on May 20, oaths of office and a reorganizational meeting could be held on May 21. If the results are not certified, Przewrocki says it would go to the State Board of Canvassers for certification.
