ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – After losing their building due to smoke damage from the Ludington Street fire in January, the artists of Escanaba’s East Ludington Gallery have finally moved into their new home.
The gallery is once again open for business, having moved into the former Morrison Shop just across the street. Gallery President Sandy Wilson says the new facility allows all of the art to be displayed in one room, with plenty of natural light pouring in from the large windows.
The old gallery’s carpeted walls were able to be restored, adding a touch of home for the 35 artists. Wilson says they are excited to be able to share their art with the community once again.
“It was a lot of work to get here, but we’re finally here and we’re so happy,” she said. “We just want to thank the community for all the support that they gave us through these last four months. It’s been a wild ride, but we’re here for the long run.”
The East Ludington Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The gallery is located at 1000 Ludington Street.
