DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – Two Delta County residents are facing multiple drug charges after a months-long investigation.
The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) detectives were investigating James Johnson of Escanaba and Ronald Frans of Gladstone for suspected cocaine possession.
Johnson and Frans were arrested April 30 after Delta County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop and found over four ounces of cocaine.
A search warrant was obtained for the Northtown Crown Da’Bar in Escanaba following the traffic stop. UPSET says it was determined Johnson worked at the bar and lived in the apartment above the business. During a search of the bar and apartment, detectives found cocaine, paraphernalia, and illegal prescription medication.
Johnson and Frans were arraigned in 94th District County (Delta County) on May 1 on charges related to possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
Currently the investigation remains ongoing.
Detectives were assisted by the Delta County Sheriff’s Office and K-9 Unit, Michigan State Police Gladstone Post, Escanaba Public Safety, Agents from Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Michigan Intelligence Operation Center.
