HANNAHVILLE, Mich. (WZMQ) – An organization in the Hannahville Indian Community is elevating the voices of those who have survived domestic violence and other crimes.
Hannahville Victim Services is hosting a weeklong candlelight vigil in recognition of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Anyone impacted by domestic violence, dating violence, sexual violence, sex trafficking, or stalking can add a solar candle to the Tribal Administration walkway.
Victim Services Outreach Coordinator Victoria Steinhausen says the growing display is designed to shine a light on crimes that go unnoticed all too often.
“The vigil is to try and capture the picture of this exists here, these crimes do happen, and just give a way for survivors to be seen,” she said.
The vigil is an informal event that continues through Friday, April 26. The Tribal Administration faciliity is located at N14911 Hannahville B-1 Road, Wilson. Click here for more information.
