MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Noquemanon Trail Network has already hit the ground running with trail construction. As part of the MEDC grant project, the NTN is developing the bike park, installing vault toilets in the trail parking lot replacing the outhouse, and improving the existing parking lot.
During the construction the parking lot will be closed, as crews add parking spaces and re-grading the entire parking lot.
The safety of people coming and going was a concern as well and NTN will be adding more parking lot structures to help move traffic more safely. “So there’s like defined parking on one side and then you go around it and it will kinda feel like that here too where it feels one way so that people actually drive around and come out just again creating safety,” commented Community Outreach Coordinator Jeni Kilpela.
The NTN mentioned that with the early spring here, they expect to be wrapping up by the end of May.
During the construction, the NTN is redirecting people looking to visit the trail to park on Pioneer Rd, as they finish updates to the existing parking lot.
