MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Ishpeming and Gwinn Lions Clubs are facing off for a good cause.
For the next 10 days the organizations are competing to see who can gather more food donations for St Vincent De Paul’s food pantry. The pantry has requested donations of non perishable food items like canned goods, pasta, and baking mixes.
The Lions Club says the event is a fun way to give back to the community.
“i was quite surprised when i got in here and saw empty shelves or very bare shelves, and how many families st vinnies helps throughout the year,” Kurt Kipling, of the Ishpeming Lions Club went on to say “We are hoping to just pack [St Vincent De Paul’s food pantry] and help them out for several months.”
Donations can be dropped off at the Ishpeming or Gwinn St Vincent De Paul stores. Donation bins are also set up at the Super One Food’s store in Ishpeming.
