CLARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Arizona man was killed after he rear-ended a school bus in Mackinac County Wednesday afternoon.
Michigan State Police – St. Ignace Post says it happened on M129 near Norquist Rd. around 3:20 p.m. A Les Cheneaux school bus was stopped facing north with its emergency flashers on when a 43-year-old man from Yuma, Ariz. struck it from behind.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The rear seat passenger of the vehicle was also injured and taking to War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie in critical condition.
There were no reports of injuries to the students or driver of the school bus.
The crash remains under investigation.
Troopers were assisted by the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department, Clark Twp. Fire/EMS, Pickford Fire/EMS, MSP Motor Carrier Division, and MDOT.
